Parties, Zombies & Worms

Photo of gelatin worms

We’ve heard from some people that have hosted zombie parties. It’s great to hear churches and youth groups have taken advantage of our free resources.

In addition, we’ve heard of a few party ideas. A reader had a great twist on making these gelatin worms. Here’s her recipe:

2 packages of gelatin (I used black cherry)
1 pkg unflavored gelatin
3/4 cup whipping cream
3 cups boiling water
15 drops green food coloring
100 flexible straws
Tall container

  1. Combine gelatin in bowl add boiling water
  2. Let it cool to lukewarm and add whipping cream and food coloring
  3. Gather straws (flex them out). And put in container with a tight fit…a rubber and around straws is helpful
  4. Add gelatin mixture to the straw filled container and let set until firm
  5. Squeeze straws to get the worms out

Bogus Brains at your Dollar Store

Photo of "Bogus Brains" packaging

We were innocently minding our own business at the local dollar store when this novelty item caught our eye. Any zombie would salivate at this little offering. We want to make it clear, this is NOT an edible item. It would, however be a possible decoration idea for your youth zombie party.

Don’t worry, it’s not to the scale of an actual human, zombie or otherwise.

Zombies Assist in Counter-Terrorism

Breaking news from the zombie files: Minnesota Public Radio reports zombies will help add some levity to a counterterrorism summit in October, 2012. Apparently, zombies will use their gift of relentless harassment to add some levity to realistic training events.

This is a nice, practical use for the walking dead. If zombies are everywhere, they might as well be helpful.

Next month, will be prime time for zombies. Youth leaders can host a zombie party to go with our book. We’ve just added invitations and postcard templates for your use. Enjoy!
